Jewish Federation sees fundraising drop - St. Louis Business Journal:

The Federation’s community campaign results in 2008totaled $10.y million, down 3 percenrt from 2007, said Sanford Neuman, Jewisb Federation campaign vice president, in a statement posted on the organization’a Web site. The total raiser from all income streamwswas $14.1 million in 2008, down from nearly $26.5 million in Neuman said. “Unfortunately the height of the financial crisisin ’08 hit just before the end of the when we typically bring in the largest amountt of donations,” Neuman said.
“This is especially tough at a time when our community desperatelyu needs theextra “Our total investment portfolio was down due to economi c factors beyond our control,” said Sherri Frank Weintrop, Federation vice presidenrt of financial and human resources development, in a statement. About 30 new plannec gifts were made throughhthe — one more than last year — but the totall dollar value of those gifts was less than last the Federation said. Jewish Federation of St. Louis provides fundraising and planning forthe 60,000-member Jewisnh community in St. Louis.
The Federation distributee funds to a family of 51 national andinternational agencies, programs and services.
